En esta sección iremos publicando periódicamente noticias, novedades y actividades de nuestra nueva auxiliar de conversación Imani para este curso escolar 2022-23.

19/12/2022 "OUR CITY"

Students learned to identify the buildings you can find in a city, such as a tows hall, library and supermarket. Students completed a worksheet by labeling buildings using tthe vocabulary they learned and listening to a video description of a town. Then, they recreated their own map of Lora del Río and practiced pronouncing descriptions of the city in English.

Students learned about the categories of food pyramids and worked together in groups to draw and label food pyramids. They learned the names for foods in English, such as different fruits and vegetables, dairy products, cereals and weets. They then correctly categorized their drawings on the food pyramids.


                            

22/12/2022 "Chritmas presentation"

I gave a presentation on Christmas in the United States and highlighed Christmas vocabulary. We talked about my family´s  traditions and foods and games people eat and play during the holiday.


      

        

23/01/2023

The 4th graders learned the order of food pyramids and ornanized different foods onto their pyramids. This helped them learn about healthy diets and food vocabulary in English

       

23/01/2023

As part of a unit on weather, the 5th graders learned the names of weather instruments and to describe what they do in English. To prepare for this video, they practiced their English pronunciation in groups.


      

07/02/2023 "Body Parts Game"

3rd grade has been learning the names of body parts in English using music and activities. They practiced what they´ve learned with this crocodile-themed game. They played a few times and beat the game each time.

          


         

16/02/2023

  The 5 th graders read The Nightingale by Hnas Christian Andersen in English so they could use their reading and listening skills. They then tested their comprehension by playing a game focused on comparisons in the story, such as "happier vs. sadder", "most beautiful", etc.





     

23/03/2023 " A ST. PATRICK´S DAY SCAVENGER HUNT"

   The fifth and second grade classes participated in a lucky leprechaun scavenger hunt where they looked for items related to St. Patick´s Day, such as "something greeen" and "something lucky". Fifth grade then had to fill out a worksheet that explained where they found each item, which helps them describe locations in English. At the end, they got to have a lucky chocolate coin for all their hatd work.


       

14/04/2023 :"EASTER ACTIVITIES"

3º B and 5º A learned Easter vocabulary such as bunny, basket, egg and flower using pictures and spelling and memory games. 3º B also learned commands in English such as jump, duck and crawl when they played a virtual physical education game.

         

25/05/2023 : "FERIA GAMES AND VOCABULARY"

5º A learned feria vocabulary in English through games and videos and learned  a little about my state´s fair in Minnesota, the second largest state fair in the United States.
